The destination chosen was Port Dickson. It turned out to be the longest journey so far in a day at about 70km from home, what's more, we cycled the return journey the next day.
It was a hell of a roller-coaster ride. Lots of climbing and as always the run downhill was too brief. This group really want to ride - we started at 8.30am and only want to stop for breakfast after riding 33km! Late breakfast such that the roti chanai at the food stall has finished.
Mostly we were on 2-lane roads and there was no hard shoulder. However all drivers gave us lots of room except on one occasion. It happened on the return journey out of PD, six of us were riding in a single file peloton when this car came and overtook us and then immediately turns left just ahead of Jimmy who's riding at the front. Jimmy braked to avoid bumping into the car thus an accident was avoided. We gave the driver 2 fingers!
A friend got a damaged tire otherwise there was no other mechanical problem. Cramps are usual on long rides like this so I made sure that I drink lots of water.
Cycling exposed riders to the elements - it rained on us; the environs smells - parts of PD/Lukut smell like hell and one lorry must be carrying dead cats that I almost puked.
The feeling of having achieved the objective was sweet more so it's the first time that I did it. Younger person on a road bike would find the ride mildly challenging but satisfying nevertheless.
