Floods in AS - biggest yet

Floods in Alor Star now and reported to be the worst in 30 yrs (perhaps worst in history). More than 40,000 people had to be evacuated to relieve centres. The house that we used to live in Taman Lumba Kuda is believed to be flooded with at least a foot of water inside the house.
The Bukit Pinang Treatment Plant was affected again but this time severely hit for it stopped production altogether for about 3 days. Looking back lets see incidences where water went into the Pelubang TP intake pumphouse: 1988, 2000, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2010. It's obvious that the incidences of high water is getting to be more frequent. And it was also shown that incidences of turbid water with NTU>1000 is also getting more frequent. Quite apart from climate change, these floods are due to land clearing in the catchment area.
