Water transfer

This is the second tunnel for water transfer visited in the space of a month. This one is a lot longer and would carry water from Pahang to Selangor in 5.2m diameter tunnel 42 km long. The first of three Tunnel Boring Machines is being assembled and the project would take about 4 years to complete. We were told that when fully assembled, the whole machine would be 200m long.
Fresh water available is not infinite, taking water away from across the mountains means less is available on the other side. It does take a lot for Pahang to readily give away some of its resources for the sake of the prosperity of its neighbour though the water is not for free. Water transfer between states of a nation is less of a problem campared to transfer between nations.
The requirement to take water from elsewhere to sustain development of an area also means that the development is not sustainable as far as water requirement is concerned.
