New Kedah State Government

Poling day was on the 8th March 2008. BN won 14 seats and the PAS-led opposition won 21 seats. ! seat was won by an independent candidate. Now the BN representatives - including the former Menteri Besar - who have long been used to be in Government have to play the opposition role. The new Menteri Besar is YAB Ustaz Azizan b Abdul Razak, the state's PAS Commissioner. The state EXCO was sworned-in yesterday (Weds 12th). They probably had the first EXCO meeting the same day and today there's a likelihood that the respective EXCO members would call the first post-EXCO meeting to inform of whatever the state government's first decisions. If that being the case, next week we'd see some action at the various government's agencies. Most profound changes would be at the various Local Authorities and State Government's companies. There are many politically-linked appointees at those agencies surely new faces would be introduced to replace people from the previous administration. People here are still talking about the elections, and would still be a hot topic in the coming weeks due to the major upsets in Kedah, Penang, Perak and Selangor.
As for now we'd await the changes that the new government promises in their election campaigns.
