It Smells!

Aiyoo, it smells! I won't be complaining if the smell is nice, but this pong is terrible. Almost at all the eating places in town, the drain beside is dirty and smelly. Near Hawker Centres (e.g.Jalan Tun Razak, the Stadium) , roadside stalls(everywhere), even near 'clean' restaurants (e.g.KFC Jalan Putra). Just go to any corner where there's an eating place and always the smell will hit you first as you get out of the car. It is easy to see why it like that. Dirt and washings from the kitchen sink goes straight to the drain. They are supposed to be channeled to the sewerage system right? I supposed they are not, hence the foodstuffs etc from the kitchen sink get trapped in the drain and that results in the smell. Surely people concerned know if this problem - the authorities, the eatery operators, the public - but so far nobody is doing anything about it. The solution is quite obvious but nobody cares.

You are right ProBono. I have the same feeling when I visited the eating places in AS. Since I moved here few years ago, my children refused to eat outside, because they can't eat while sniffing bad smells. I am sure some kind of trap can be introduced to catch the dirt from the kitchen sink to prevent in from entering the drain. And then dispose it properly in the garbage bin. Let the bacteria to his job in the proper place. We heard that the authority officials always visited foreign country, I hope in their next visit go and see how the thing was manage in the foreign land. There might be excuses if they go to cold weathered country because the propagation rate of bacteria is not so intense as in our tropical country. Don't go too far, just go to Kuala Belait in Brunei and see how they manage it. Hope one day we can bring our family together to eat in AS, in a clean eating places.
