Here and Now

It’s 7.40am Sunday morning and I’m at my desk about to start work. Whereas much of the world is on a rest day, here in Kedah it’s the start of the working week. Coming to work this morning is a breeze for this is the school holidays. No need to send children to school and that means a lot less traffic on the road. There’s still a month before school starts again and it’s a joy to drive to work – slow and easy 15 minutes trip.

The laptop won’t boot up, checked the marker at the back and it showed that the purchase date was October 2005. The warranty was for 12 months so it konked out just after the warranty period is over, how weird is that? Failure by design?

Here in my office, looking at the things around me, there’s too much paper and they make this room look messy. I’ve been trying to make the place look neater by throwing away magazines, newspapers, old notes and documents which I think is not useful anymore but still there are still a lot of things. The trick is I think to just throw away whatever that I’ve not referred to in the past 12 months or more. Then there is this big mug on my table that I use to keep pens and pencils. I counted 18 pencils in the mug, 4 artline pens and about 7-8 pens ball point pens. I could easily get rid half of the contents of the mug - I think I'll give it away.
