Thumbs up for ETS service generally. Since the electric train double-track from KL to Padang Besar was completed recently we managed to give it a try. KL-Alor Star- KL. Fare is RM73 one way. RM41 for seniors. Top speed was a bit shy of 145km/hr. It took about 5 hrs each way - which can be considered fast. We have never made it in that time using a car. The trains took a longer route since it still has to pass Tg.Rambutan, Sg.Siput, K.Kangsar.
Our food rounds includes Laksa at Aini in Hutan Kampong, Mee udang in Pulau Sayak (1.5hrs drive from AS), Ikan kembung curry at Kuala Kedah and a dinner at Titi Gajah. All foods were enjoyable.
Just for the record: (1) ETS KL-AS one way RM73(RM41 senior zitizen) ,
(2) Regency Hotel (RM190/nite incl bf for 2); TH Hotel (RM180/nite incl bf for 2,
(3) Proton Saga Sedan (150/day)+Fuel RM30/day
