Muor!

The right spelling is Muar but Muor is how the locals pronounced it. On our own, we would never have thought Muar a place to stay for any length of time. But thanks for a few friends who hails from the place a group of us went for a weekend retreat with cycling, food and sightseeing as the main agenda. And a worthwhile visit it was. More so for the few friends who used to lived there decades ago. The town itself is largish and busy with traffic. Good to see that many pre-war shophouses and buildings were still standing and in use. The most beautiful being the mosque built during the earlier part of the century, and it was nicely painted in blue. Food was much cheaper compared to KL/Putrajaya. There's no cycle lane around town but the traffic was not intimidating. Outside of town there were less traffic and we were riding on the road at all times and felt very safe. The place is famous for local coffee called 434 - that's what we had for the two days' there every time we had our meals and in between - I've never drunk so many cups of coffee in a day!

December!

December is here soon enough! Time really flies and soon the new year would appear. It's been 8 months at the new work place and we're on schedule so that's good. A lot more work coming up it'll be a hectic 15 moths' ahead. 2014 will be areal tests of my(and our team's) abilities. We're supposed to move house anytime now but things are moving very slowly. That's something good to look forward to. Other things makes us feel sad - dad's not as strong as before though he's in good health. Must make a point to visit him more often. A friend's daughter is in hospital due to some acute disease - a blow to this family who is with us during happy times. Cycling - mostly during weekends - always takes our minds off things so that's a good way to forget thing for a few hours, not to mention the health benefits. This Monday morning I can still feel the tiredness on my feet from yesterday morning's 40+km ride on undulating roads, the day before it was a more leisurely 20+km.
