Public Transport

It’s been raining since early dawn. At 8am it is still drizzling so looks like the morning ride is off. This is the view from our bedroom window. Looks damp and quiet.

No point staying in so we decided to go to KL using public transport – trains to be exact. The plan is to park our car in Putrajaya Central, take the ERL to KL Central then the LRT to anywhere. RM9.50 is the single fare from Putrajaya Central to KL Central. Convenient and fast.
Had breakfast at La Cucur in KL Central then took the LRT to Pasar Seni. Many tourists here. Walked one round but did not buy anything. I thought the paintings (portraits) were good. The place is attractive and clean. My other half said the toilet was of exceptional design – attractive and clean.

From Pasar Seni we wanted to walk to Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman but end up in Dataran Merdeka instead. Along the way we came across this area with many shops offering services to send money home for migrant workers. These are not banks by the look of it. Naturally there were many foreign workers loitering around the area.
It’s about 12 noon and very hot so decided to take a taxi to Sogo. Fare from Dataran Merdeka to Sogo RM3.40 using the meter.
There’s a sale on – but then every time I visited Sogo there’s always a sale on!
Then we discovered that at the back street of Jalan TAR there’s a sort of pasar malam going on. There are stalls been set up from near the Campbell Complex to Masjid India. All kinds of stalls selling from clothes to shoes and food. Big crowd here.

Spring Potatoes.

Imitation Crocs.

Return home via KL Central. There’s a glitch on ERL we had to wait one hour for our train. Not a bad experience with public transport but for such travel with a family of say 4 people it’s cheaper to take the car.
Total fare for the day for two persons: RM44.00.

Three peaks conquered

The pictures are proof that I've conquered the three peaks in Putrajaya. I don't know if they're the highest but they're interesting landmarks and quite challenging. The first one below is the hill where The Foreign Ministry in located. Around it is a garden called Taman Wawasan. A very good exercise for walkers too to go up this hill but cycling is more fun.

Didn't know until last Sunday that they have this nice bicycling paths in Taman Botani. Up the hill I went and not as steep as the previous one but still is good exercise. Nicely manicured gardens and well-built pavements all the up to the top where the needle-like structure is. It is actually a sun-clock.

Then up the hill where the Shangri-la Hotel is. Now this is really challenging but the 8-speed Dahon could take me there no problem. The monument is called the mercu tanda - sort of symbol for Putrajaya. As it is the fountain and things around the monument looks like it needs a makeover.
