RFC

Radix Fried Chicken - that's what it stands for. A similar fried chicken fast-food to the 'original' KFC has just opened a few months ago in Shahab Perdana - where the bus station is. I heard that it received overwhelming support from patrons. So I did check last Friday afternoon thinking that at 5.30pm there would not be many hungry people - but I was wrong, the place was almost full. At each of the three counters there were at least 5 people queuing. Price-wise it's not exactly cheap - a simple meal for two costs RM18.00. I guess people just like the difference.

Steamed rice and beef curry

It's school holidays again and that means kenduri season. Received three invitations and been to one, missed one and the third one will be next Sunday. The best curry was served beside the stove - we were eating hardly 20 feet away from where the old man in the picture cooking the next batch of beef curry. Rice was steamed in trays stacked 12 high in a giant steamer - that's the first time I see it been done in such a manner. And the beef korma was delicious too. Simple menus by kampong folks beats foods served in any modern-style kenduri normally seen nowadays. Cooking is less smoky too, no more firewood - gas is more convenient and clean.

Kg.Alor Ganu

If not for the bike, I would not have been to this place nor would I have heard such a village or its name exists. Not that its of any significant - the village that is, but then maybe there is something that I not know of. This is a traditional sleepy village by the Sg.Anak Bukit. Not many people around and in parts creepy. The road through the village is well paved though.

Beautiful mosque

There is this beautiful mosque by the sea at Tanjung Bungah in Penang. Not too big but not small either. Just about the right size - short distance from the ablution area to the main hall & not too many people even when it's full for the Friday afternoon prayers. Across the road there are many big, tall imposing apartments but muslims being the minority in this area this mosque provides sufficient space. With land so scarce, putting the mosque in the sea is a clever idea.
