IDF

In the present conflict in Mid-East, its the first time I heard IDF - Israeli Defence Force. Previously it was Israel Military or something like that. Soften the word a bit yea? But nothing soft about their actions in Gaza and Lebanon. Merciless is more like it. No matter how hard CNN tries to put up a balanced picture of the suffering of the people on both sides, the inbalance in destruction, death and suffering is clear - the IDF is by far the most mad aggressor bent on killing people.

Tell Me No Lies

That is the title of a book I'm reading now by John Pilger. It's about stories despatched by journalists covering major incidents around the world in recent times, including first accounts of the Hiroshima bombing, from Palestine, the massacre at Sabra and Chatila refugee camps in Lebanon, the seige at Falluja in Iraq, My Lai in the Vietnam war, Rwanda and many others. Story on how voters were 'lost' in Florida during the last American presidential election was also covered. Very interesting and captivating reading. What is morrying is that the trend continues in that more lies are being told during the present conflict against so-called terrorists around the world. And people believe them.Where's the WMD Georgie boy?

One big prison.

It's in the news everyday day now, and CNN is updating stories ever regularly by the hour. The Gaza strip is indeed one big prison with its uccupiers tormented, denied, starved, killed. Whatever the reasons are, one cannot imagine how those people there lived - day in, day out. The Palestinian problem - due to the creation of the State of Israel - has not been solved for more than 50 years. It does not look like it's going to be solved for another 50 years. There will be more lives lost, people - including women and children - hurt and maimed, buildings destroyed. The people in power who has the means and ability to stop all these are unwilling or unable to prevent this bloodshed. So the cycle of anger and retaliation and destruction continues.
