Genting

View from the 17th floor of the Awana Golf Resort Hotel
Very heavy mist, visibility is low even in the car park.

Last Wednessday was the first time that I went up Genting Highlands. Most people have been there many times but I was not so keen to go because I heard the place is always busy and I hate crowded places. But this is not holiday season and I had some work to do at nearby Batang Kali so I took the opportunity to see what it is all about and spent the night at the Awana Golf Resort. Went up to the theme park at 10.30 pm after dinner and temperature at the top was a cool 16 deg.C. The place was misty and visibility was about 10-20m only. Driving was dangerous and the one-way system they had certainly helped to prevent road accidents. As far as theme parks goes, nothing beats this place in the country I think. The car park was almost full even in this non-holiday season. I imagine the casino would be full of punters. The drive up was very quick, distance from Batang Kali to the peak less than 30 km. Magnificent place for entertainment but be prepared to spend especially if the family is coming along.

Terengganu

This is what I like most about Terengganu - its beaches. Stand on a beach here, look to the left and right, and one can see the beach stretch long to the distance and not a soul can be seen. I was in Marang last week and the view in early morning was simply breathtaking. Did a jog on the beach and then off for breakfast at Kedai Kopi Hai Peng in Cukai. I did't know that the place was that famous till it was mentioned in the NST last Saturday. Perfect place for coffee and nasi dagang.
