Breakfast at Kuala Sanglang

Today had breakfast at Kuala Sanglang. This is one of the places where fishermen land their catches in Kedah. Had rice with fried prawns, 'kembong curry', sambal belacan, cucumber and 'tek tarik'. Fresh sea-food - excellent!! But the place is a somewhat rickety wooden shed beside the jetty where the boats are tied. The jovial old men of the sea were eager to tell you stories you could stuck there for hours. Those seemingly poor people are really warm and cheerful and have more money than they can spent, at least that's what the impression they gave me! The place can do with better infrastructure now that we're in the 21st century. But really the people are happy as it is. They were lucky not affected by the December tsunami unlike in places like Sg.Baru and Kota Kuala Muda.

Swimming

Nothing beats a dip in pristine clearwater of a natural spring. And 2 cute excited little girls and let them roam free to their hearts content. Not many rivers have clear water these days you have to go to really 'ulu' places to see any unpolluted stretch of a river. This one is called Ulu Licin near Beruas, Perak, and no crowd too on a Friday late afternoon. I have been to this place on many occasions and this is the only time where I did not see many rubbish strewn about. Either someone have cleared them away or washed out by high water. I don't believe that the visitors here have improved on their civic-mindedness and carried their rubbish home.
